Guilin – East or west, Guilin landscape is best！

Guilin Liangjiang International Airport (KWL) is about 28 kilometers (about 17.4 miles) from the city center. About 50 airlines connect Guilin with domestic cities as well as foreign countries such as Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, etc. In particular, airlines schedule several flights daily to and from major cities in China like Beijing, Chongqing, Guangzhou, Guiyang, Haikou, Hangzhou, Hong Kong, Kunming, Macau, Nanjing, Nanning, Qingdao, Sanya, Shanghai, Shenzhen, Taiyuan, Wuhan, Xian, Zhengzhou, Dalian, Shantou, Chengdu, Lanzhou, Tianjin, Jinan, Wenzhou, Changsha, Fuzhou, and Zhuhai.

Guilin weather is generally mild with four distinctive seasons – sunny and vigorous spring, rainy and foggy summer, cool and pleasant autumn, breezy and drizzling winter. All kinds of flowers blossom all year round.

The local weather in January is the coolest with an average temperature of 8 °C (46 °F), while July is the hottest with an average temperature of 28 °C (82 °F). Summer is the rainy season, especially in May and June. The optimum time to travel that place is from April to October. However, remember to try to avoid National Day (October 1 to 7), when all the people in China seem to move around.

Stewed duck with gingko is a traditional dish thought to be a remedy for lung problems. Gingko, cubes of duck meat, ham slices, and other ingredients are steamed in braising cups. The pork and taro cubes are fried separately and then steamed together, so each piece is golden on the outside and soft and flavorful on the inside. Stewed clams and chicken is an award-winning dish of Guilin. A chicken, a pair of clams, preserved longan, and slices of ham are stewed with other ingredients in a covered porcelain pot for two hours. This mellow-flavored dish has many healthful benefits.

One of the top China's tourist destinations, Li River is honored to the most beautiful gallery of the world. The picturesque river is a major component of the scenery in that place. As it sparkles in the sunlight the river meanders through lush mountains like a liquid jade belt. To really appreciate the scenery a cruise from Guilin to Yangshuo is a must.

At the confluence of the Taohua River and the Li River, Elephant Trunk Hill is the landmark in downtown Guilin and also a highlight of the Li River. It is like a giant elephant drinking water from the river. The semicircle cave between its legs and trunk is called Water Moon Cave. Together with its reflection, it looks like a round moon on the river.

It is one of the most beautiful karst caves in the northwest suburb. Stalactites there are of various shapes, like lions, pagodas, forests and waterfalls. With clever use of the lights, the cave looks even more gorgeous. Walking through the stalactites makes you feel like you are inside of a magnificent crystal palace.
