Zhejiang Sci-Tech University is a key provincial university in Zhejiang province, well-known for its unique characteristics and advantages. While engineering subjects are the University’s main focus, the school provides a comprehensive academic education, covering the fields of natural sciences, engineering, humanities, economics, management, law and education. In April 1999, upon receiving approval from the Ministry of Education, the school changed its name from Zhejiang Institute of Silk Textiles to Zhejiang Institute of Science and Technology. In May 2004, upon approval of the Ministry of Education, the name was further changed to its current name, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University.

Zhejiang Sci-Tech University has always emphasized international exchanges and cooperation. Each year, the University deploys its faculty overseas for training, to deliver lectures, engage in cooperative research projects and participate in other academic activities. The university maintains close cooperative relations with more than 30 colleges and research institutes in more than 10 countries and regions, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, Australia and others. Through efforts in exploring multiple approaches for high end talent training and education, establishment of joint research centers, and inviting foreign experts and scholars to give lectures in the campus, Zhejiang Sci-Tech University now enjoys increasing advantages in its building of a university with international character and quality. ZSTU is one of the host institutes under Chinese Scholarship Program. Besides ZSTU and Zhejiang Provincial government offer various scholarships to outstanding international students too.
