Ningxia Medical University

The predecessor of Ningxia Medical University was the Ningxia Medical College established in 1958. In 1962, it was renamed the Department of Medicine of Ningxia University. In 1972, Shanghai Railway Medical College moved to Yinchuan, and merged with Ningxia University Medical Department to rebuild Ningxia Medical College. In 2002, Ningxia Health School and Ningxia Nurse School were merged into Ningxia Medical College. In August 2008, the school was renamed Ningxia Medical University. In 2014, Ningxia Teachers College Medical School was merged into Ningxia Medical University. So far, the school has become the only medical higher education institution in Ningxia.

The school has two campuses, Yanhu and Shuangyi. There are 13 teaching institutions, 11 teaching and research institutions, 12 affiliated hospitals, 20 teaching hospitals, more than 50 internship hospitals and practical teaching bases.

The school has more than 7,000 faculty members and medical staff (including affiliated hospitals directly), including 892 full-time teachers and 683 associate professors. There are 1 academician, 50 doctoral supervisors and 653 master's supervisors. There are 8,927 full-time students, including 1,778 doctoral and master students, and 347 international students.

The school has three disciplines of medicine, science and management, 22 undergraduate majors, among which clinical medicine, Chinese medicine, preventive medicine, nursing, pharmacy are national-level specialty, and 9 are autonomous region-level specialty. There are 1 national teaching team and 9 autonomous district teaching teams; there are 2 national experimental teaching demonstration centers and 9 autonomous regional experimental teaching demonstration centers, which are the first batch of national advanced doctor education program pilot universities.

The school has three first-level doctoral degree award points, one doctoral degree awarding point, nine first-level master's degree awarding points, and six professional master's degree awarding points. There are 17 provincial and ministerial key disciplines, one provincial key laboratory cultivation base of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and two key laboratories of the Ministry of Education. There are five autonomous regional key laboratories and two autonomous regional engineering technology research centers. Since the "Twelfth Five-Year Plan", it has undertaken more than 3,000 scientific research projects at various levels, including 507 national-level scientific research projects.

The school adheres to the concept of “hard work, self-improvement, open education, connotation development, strengthening characteristics, focusing on innovation, and comprehensively improving the quality and efficiency of education”. It has developed into a coordinated development of scale, structure, quality and efficiency. Higher medical colleges with a certain influence and popularity in colleges and universities. During the "Thirteenth Five-Year Plan" period, we will continue to deepen the construction of connotation, highlight the characteristics of running a school, improve the level of running a school, and strive to achieve "two first-class" (first-class colleges in the west, with first-class domestic disciplines), and build a western region with characteristics and modernization. High-level teaching and research medical universities are struggling to advance.
