Bengbu Medical College is a provincial general medical college in Anhui Province, the first batch of national units with the right to grant bachelor and master degrees, the first batch of national pilot universities for the education and training program of outstanding doctors, the first batch of national pilot universities for innovative entrepreneurship training programs, The first batch of pilot colleges and universities for reforming the cultivation mode of master degree in clinical medicine, postgraduate colleges and universities in the Ministry of Education, national-level college students’innovation and entrepreneurship practice base, national college students' off-campus practice education base, and the Ministry of Education's “5 + 3” reform pilot universities The first batch of pilot units for comprehensive reform of universities in Anhui Province, the academician workstation of Anhui Province and the post-doctoral post-setting unit, is a joint training unit for doctoral students of Jinan University and Army Military Medical University.

The school was founded in July 1958 and was built by the relocation of the former Shanghai Second Medical College and Anhui Medical College. In 1968, it was renamed Bengbu Anti-repair Medical College. In September 1970, it merged with Anhui Medical College and was renamed Anhui Medical College. The Bengbu branch of the hospital, in June 1974, was restored to be called Bengbu Medical College.

As of September 2018, the school has 4 campuses including Longzihu Campus, Zhihuai Campus, Hongye Campus and Huai Shang Campus, covering an area of more than 1580 mu and a total construction area of 463,700 square meters. The school now has 6 first-level discipline master degree authorization points and 5 master's degree authorization types, 36 second-level discipline authorization points, and the clinical medicine discipline has entered the top 1% of the US Basic Science Index (ESI) global ranking.
