A story of applying for the China scholarship
Andrew came to China this year to study after submitting an application on ScholarshipChina. Many of you want to know more about his experience as an international student. Now listen to what he said.
Q: We already know that you have successfully obtained the admission of a Chinese university at ScholarshipChina. This is an exciting news. How did you know about ScholarshipChina?
A: I am Andrew from Mongolia. I just graduated from high school this year and always want to study in China. Someday, I heard ScholarshipChina from a friend who is a second-year student at Nanchang University. He told me that ScholarshipChina has many Chinese scholarships and Chinese universities. Not only that, they also provide consulting services to help you solve the problem of applying to Chinese universities. And they have a company branch in Mongolia where I went to before. They often host many activities there. I am very excited there is a good platform offering the opportunity to study in China.
Q: Why do you choose the university you are attending?
A: I logged into the website and found a large number of Chinese scholarships. But I don't know what majors and universities to choose. After all, there are many Chinese scholarship options. I contacted the consultant and she gave me two choices. I can apply for Applied Technology of Xuzhou Vocational College of Industrial Technology in the fall season of 2018, or I can apply for another school in the spring of 2019. She suggested that I apply for Jiangsu University of Technology or Xi'an Shiyou University.
I really want to study this year. In addition, Applied Technology of Xuzhou Vocational College of Industrial Technology is exactly what I expected. I want to choose a university offering applied science. This university offers my desired choices and many of my friends recommend it to me. Xuzhou is also a city I like in China. This is a vibrant city with a modern style.
Q: What are the specific Chinese university application steps?
A: Actually, I can fill out the form by myself. The information and tips on the website are comprehensive. When you enter the application page, the detailed steps will be displayed above. I registered my account and clicked APPLY NOW. I only need to complete the five-step process and apply for a Chinese university. For the sake of accuracy, I still contacted the consultant.
Later I realized that the information I filled in was not complete. For example, the home address needs to be accurate to the street, the family information should be comprehensive, and the passport is valid for more than one year. With the help of a consultant, I perfected the information and prepared the documents. The consultant is very friendly. After that, she kept in touch with me. I also asked some interesting things about studying in China. A week later, I got a call from a consultant. She told me that I was admitted to Xuzhou Vocational College of Industrial Technology. I am very excited and grateful for her help. If I have the chance, I will thank her face to face.
Q: Have you thought about getting the admission of Chinese universities so easily?
A: I was very surprised. I didn't think that I could applied to study in China successfully for the first time. Although the process of applying for a Chinese university went wrong, I was lucky enough to get an offer letter. I believe that I will learn more in China in the future.
Q: What preparations did you make before leaving?
A: I went to the local Chinese consulate to apply for a Chinese student visa, which is essential. They will tell you which type of visa you need to apply for. I bought the ticket after purchasing the safety insurance. You can check the address on the home page of ScholarshipChina or the school. Remember to translate into Chinese information and save it on your phone.
My friend reminded me international roaming was another service that I might want to take into account. Foreign phone cards can be used normally in China, and it is necessary to launch the international roaming service at operators that belong to foreign countries. International roaming business is nothing more than a privilege. It does not mean that you must go to the business hall or call the customer service hotline. Some operators may open the international roaming authority by default. I came to China and bought a local phone card. China's phone card is cheap and the signal is good.
The preparation of RMB is inevitable. RMB is the official currency of China. I went to the local bank to exchange the appropriate amount because China's large banks supported the exchange business.
Q: Thank you for sharing!
A: Thank you! I am very grateful for the opportunity to share my story of application for a Chinese university!
