Ningbo – The second biggest city and an important port in Zhejiang province.

There are about 260 bus lines in Ningbo. Most of the lines charge between CNY1~CNY2. However, according to the distance of the line, some of the tickets would be over CNY2 but lower than CNY7. Most of the lines run in intervals of 4~20 minutes. Few lines run in intervals of 20~70 minutes. The earliest leaving time in the morning is during 05:00~07:00 (several long lines leaving at 08:30). The last bus leaves during 17:00~23:00. There are night lines in the city including Bus No.2 and also the lines among 205~291 (except 238). These lines usually only run after 18:00 and continue until 23:00 at night.

According to the long-term plan, Ningbo will operate 8 subway lines by 2025-2030. Currently, only subway line 1 and line 2 are in service, and line 3 and line 4 are under construction. Line 1 connects Gaoqiao West and Xiapu, passing 29 stations in total. Line 2 runs between Lishe International Airport and Qingshuipu, via Ningbo Railway Station, City God temple and Drum Tower.

Over 4,000 taxis are serving the city. The starting price is CNY11 for the first 3km (2mi) and CNY2.4 is charged for each additional kilometer (0.6mi). When the distance is within 20km (12mi), the cost of each kilometer (0.6mi) is CNY3.4, and the price is CNY3.8/km when a car runs farther than 20km (12mi). Waiting fee is also charged: it is for free for the first 6 minutes, and CNY2.4 per extra 4 minutes. When you take a taxi at night between 22:00 and 05:00 the next day, night allowance is required, and the cost of each kilometer (0.6mi) increases by CNY0.6.

Subjected to the subtropical monsoon climate, Ningbo boasts warm and moist weather. The annual mean temperature is only 16.2C (61.16F). The highest month mean temperature is 28.8C (83.84F) in July; the lowest month mean temperature is 4.6C (40.28F). The annual average rainfall is 1400 millimeters (55 inches) and mainly concentrates in June and September. Ningbo weather is usually rainy during May and June. The temperature is moderate while the humidity is quite high. In September, typhoons are frequent.

Bingtang Jiayu (Steamed Turtle in Crystal Sugar Soup) takes first place in the ten famous Ningbo dishes. The bright golden color easily arouses one's appetite. It is both sweet and salty with a strong fragrance. In addition to being delicious, it also boasts of being rich in protein, iodine and vitamin B.

Braised Eel is cooked with fresh river eel. The prepared eel is first braised until the skin turns transparent. Then the flesh, with bones carefully removed, is cooked in a brown sauce. The result is tender and juicy and has a lovely bright color. This dish is a veritable tonic of calcium and vitamins.

Baoguo Temple is seated on the mountainside of Lingshan Mountain, about 15 kilometers (around 9.3 miles) away from downtown Ningbo City. As a cultural relic spot under state-level protection, it was initially established in the Eastern Han Dynasty (25-220) and rebuilt and expanded in later dynasties. The present Baoguo Temple is a mixture of constructions made by various dynasties.

Located in Yueqing County of Wenzhou City, Zhejiang Province, Yandang Mountain is one of the China's top ten must-see mountains. Famous for its magnificent peaks, waterfalls and caves, it was named a World Geopark by UNESCO in 2005. With an area of 450 sq kilometers (about 173.75 sq miles), Mount Yandang is composed of eight scenic areas, most famous of which are the Three Best Wonders: the Spiritual Peaks, the Big Dragon Waterfall and the Spiritual Rocks.

Tianyi Pavilion (Tian Yi Ge) is the oldest private library in existence in China. Occupying an area of 26,000 square meters (about 6.4 acres), it lies beside the picturesque Ming Lake in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province. The library has amassed a collection of 300,000 volumes, 80,000 of which are rare books.
