Yichang – The second biggest city in Hubei Province, a garden city.

The locally run buses only cost a ¥1 and are regular enough to be relied upon. The town is not that big so going by foot is an option. If you want to go to the Three Visitors Cave, take bus 10 leaving at the main Square (hourly or half hourly). A taxi ride out there is ¥10-20.

Taxi fares begin at ¥6 and then increase in small amounts over time and distance. Taxis may or may not use the meter, if you stay in the downtown limits, rides should not exceed ¥10.

Yichang has a four-season, monsoon-influenced, humid subtropical climate, with cool, damp and generally overcast winters, and hot, humid summers. The monthly 24-hour average temperature ranges from 4.9 °C (40.8 °F) in January to 27.7 °C (81.9 °F) in July, while the annual mean is 16.85 °C (62.3 °F). Close to 70% of the annual precipitation of 1,140 mm (45 in) occurs from May to September. There are 1,568 hours of bright sunshine annually, and summer is the sunniest season.

The dish was inspired by the beautiful scenery of the Xiling Gorge which makes up of high mountains and deep gorges, and was prepared to looks like the landscapes in appearance. The dish is made with chicken, egg white and fish balls. The egg white is made resembling the mountains and float on the chicken soup. Among these "mountains" are the tricolor fish balls, which represent "pearls". The dish looks beautiful and tastes tender, and is well-known in the region for its distinctive appearance.

It is also a traditional Yichang dish. Fat chicken is entirely flavored with various seasonings and boiled with spice and crystal sugar. The chicken looks brilliantly with crisp skin and tender meat. A local story says that the dish’s name is related to three poets of Song dynasty, Su Xun, Su Shi, and Suzhe. They travel to Three Gorges and so attracted by the amazing scenery that they could not wait humming verse. Locals name the dish as “Sanyou Deity Chicken” to enhance the fame of it. 

"Three Gorges Dam Project" is the short term for the water control project on Yangtze River. It is located in the middle section of Xiling Gorge near Sandouping Town in Yichang City, Hubei Province. Being the world's largest hydropower project, this dam has created many "Firsts" such as the most efficient dam in flood control, the most difficult construction work and the largest migration project in the world.

Lying in Changyang Tujia Autonomous County in Yichang of Hubei Province, Qingjiang River Gallery is famous for the crystal-clear water, the picturesque mountains and culture of Tujia ethnic minority. There is a saying, "Scenery in Qingjiang River is as beautiful as an exquisite landscape painting, while the Changyang section is more wonderful than a gallery."
