Wuxi – One of the fastest-growing cities in Jiangsu Province, neighboring Shanghai and Nanjing.

In Shanghai you can take the new G-Train to Wuxi. The journey will be about 45 minutes and it costs ¥61 (November, 2010). G-Trains can be boarded from either Shanghai Hongqiao Railway Station which is accessible with Metro line 2 to East Xujing or Shanghai Main Railway Station accessible with Metro line 1. Otherwise you can take the normal D-Train which takes about 50 minutes and cost ¥49.

Taxi is a good means of going places with a flag fall fare of ¥10. A 30-minute of taxi ride would probably cost you around ¥30.

Wuxi is hot and humid in summer and chilly and damp in winter, with an average annual temperature of 18 °C (64 °F) and very occasional snow. Because of its proximity to the East China Sea, it has a monsoon season and receives 100 centimeters (39 inches) of rain annually.

Wuxi Spare Ribs is the most popular local dish and is the specialty to look out for people come to Wuxi. It features the common eastern technique of "Red cooking" in a stock of rice wine and soy sauce and spiced with ginger, anise, cloves and black peppercorns and has unique red-sweet sauce on the top in order to give rich taste.

This is a home-style dish but cooked with special cooking utensil-Casserole. Put bean curd and other vegetables into the Casserole together with chicken soup and sesame oil, then bring to the boil, simmer. When it's done, the bean curd is white and soft, the dish taste fresh and has rich nutrition.

Garden of Ecstacy (Ji Chang Yuan) is one of the leading gardens in southeast China and Emperor Qianlong, who made seven visits, had a copy made of the garden at the Summer Palace in Beijing.

Garden of Ecstacy at Lingshan is one of China's largest Buddha statues over 80m tall. The whole Lingshan area is a tourist attraction, with a musical fountain which plays out the story of the birth of the Buddha, as well as the Brahma palce, a very grand palace with the pillars made of sandalwood, built to host the 2009 Buddhist conference.
