Nantong – A small city in Jiangsu Province, rich in seafood.

Nantong, as a not very large city, has an advanced transportation system. The mileage from it to Shanghai is about 100 kilometers by land. Nantong airport is the subsidiary of Shanghai Pudong airport. The airport connects Nantong with other main cities in China. And the expressway system of Nantong to the near by cities is also very developed.

Nantong is in the north subtropics monsoon climatic region, with temperate climate, distinct seasons, abundant rain and obvious marine climate. Winters are chilly, damp, and cold northwesterly winds caused by the Siberian high can force temperatures to fall below freezing at night; however, snowfall is otherwise uncommon. Summers are hot and humid, and downpours or freak thunderstorms can be expected. Monthly daily average temperatures range from 3.1 °C (37.6 °F) in January to 27.2°C (81.0°F)in July, and the annual mean is 15.3 °C (59.5°F). With the plum rains in June and early July comes the rainiest part of the year.

Asiatic Hard Clam (Meretrix Linnaeus 文蛤): Asiatic Hard Clams are a plentiful product of the South Yellow Sea. They are one of the foremost delicacies in the world and were once sent to the emperor’s palace as a tribute.  The Asiatic hard clam can be cooked a number of ways including quick frying, simmering, and baking. Famous dishes include the Iron Plate Asiatic Hard Clam and Jin Qian Asiatic Hard Clam Cake.

Langshan Scenic Area is located in the southern suburbs of Nantong.It’s a famous natural reserve with a number of attractive mountains including Lang Shan, Ma’an Shan, Huangni Shan, Jian Shan, and Jun Shan. The Yangtze River borders the area to the south.Wolf Hill (Lang Shan) is in the middle of the 5 hills and has an altitude of 106.94 meters, making it the highest among them. As you enter Langshan, you will see Farutang which was the site of Da Xiong Bao Palace. Besides this there is Jin Gang Palace,Langshan Capeway, Water Paradise, and Jianzhen Memorial Pagoda. Meilin Spring Dawn, perched on the western slope of Ma’an Hill, is a building complex in the Jiang Nan Garden style.
